Implants
The most durable, permanent option to restore missing teeth.
Why implants?
Implants are innovative and durable solutions for replacing missing teeth. They offer numerous advantages, including:
- Natural Appearance: Implants look and feel like natural teeth, making your smile beautiful and authentic.
- Lasting Durability: With proper care, implants can last a lifetime, making them a cost-effective choice in the long run.
- Improved Chewing Ability: Implants allow you to eat normally without restrictions.
- Fixed construction: Because the implants are fused with your jawbone, you do not need to worry about a removable plate.
When implants?
There may be several indications for choosing an implant. Examples include:
- Single implant: For the replacement of an individual missing tooth or molar.
- Multiple dental implants: For restoring multiple adjacent teeth with a natural appearance.
- Implant-supported bridges: For a strong and durable solution for missing multiple teeth. Implants eliminate the need to grind down other healthy teeth, as is the case with a standard tooth-supported bridge.
- Snap-on dentures: At Oude Rijn Dentists, it's possible to replace loose dentures with snap-on dentures. This involves placing two implants in the lower jaw. A denture is then made that snaps onto these implants using a push-button or bar system. Your teeth will no longer chatter or tilt, and your chewing ability and comfort will be dramatically improved.
Did you know that, under certain conditions, dentures are reimbursed by basic insurance?

Frequently asked questions about implants
Is the treatment painful?
The treatment is performed under local anesthesia and is therefore painless. Any postoperative pain can be kept to an absolute minimum with proper instructions and pain medication.
How long does an implant last?
The lifespan of a dental implant can vary significantly depending on several factors. Generally, when properly cared for and maintained, dental implants can last for decades. The lifespan is significantly influenced by factors such as maintenance (both by you and your dental hygienist), smoking, general health, and the condition of your gums and jawbone.
Could I be allergic to an implant? Is there a chance my body will reject it?
Dental implants are not rejected. They integrate into the jawbone and form a permanent bond. Potential complications such as infection, poor bone quality, poor oral hygiene, or smoking can negatively impact the health of the bone and gums surrounding an implant. It is crucial to maintain them properly and avoid complications.
How much does the implant examination cost?
Costs can vary from person to person. However, for an implantology consultation, you can expect the following costs:
Description Code Costs Initial investigation of implants J010 € 83,23 Orthopantomogram X21 € 91,04 Total € 174,27
When is it unwise or not possible to get an implant?
There are situations where dental implants may not be suitable:
- Insufficient Bone Density: Sufficient jawbone is essential. If there is a deficiency, bone augmentation (bone reconstruction) may be necessary. This treatment is also offered in specific cases at Oude Rijn dentists.
- Poor Health: Underlying conditions can affect healing, such as uncontrolled diabetes.
- Medications: Some medications, such as certain osteoporosis medications, can cause complications.
- Smoking: Increases risk of infections and bone loss after implantation.
- Age: Implant placement in children is generally avoided.
- Gum disease: Active gum disease should be treated first.
